These references are created for the sake of clarity but it is not mandatory that the content of the reference actually needs to be resolvable. In terms of the AUTOSAR modeling approach, this translates to a decoration of these references with the stereotype≪atpUriDef≫. More information can be found in [7]. If the referenced meta-classes contain information that is relevant for the manifest level then this information is replicated on the manifest level (such that the manifest-level model does not have to rely on the availability of design-level information).
